Volvo ist der erste Automobilhersteller, der in dem von Euro NCAP speziell für automatische Notbremssysteme mit Fußgängererkennung entwickelten Testverfahren (AEB Pedestrian) die Höchstwertung von sechs Punkten erhalten hat. Ausgezeichnet wurden die beiden Modelle Volvo S90 und Volvo V90, die darüber hinaus auch in der Gesamtwertung volle fünf Sterne erhielten. Volvo festigt damit seine Rolle als führender Hersteller von innovativen Sicherheitssystemen.
Volvo S90 und Volvo V90 übertreffen damit alle im letzten Jahr von Euro NCAP getesteten Modelle, insgesamt stammen nun die Top 3 aller Fahrzeuge, die je von Euro NCAP getestet wurden, von Volvo. Der Volvo XC90 hatte bereits 2015 als erstes Modell eines Automobilherstellers die maximale Punktzahl in den Euro NCAP Tests erzielt, in denen die Funktionsweise autonomer Notbremssysteme inner- und außerorts geprüft wurde.
„Wir betreiben einen großen Aufwand, damit unsere Fahrzeuge alle Sicherheitsanforderungen erfüllen und sämtliche Testprogramme erfolgreich absolvieren, die die Sicherheitsagenturen entwickeln“, sagt Malin Ekholm, Direktor des Volvo Car Safety Centers der Volvo Car Group. „Unsere volle Konzentration galt und gilt immer der Sicherheit unter realen Bedingungen. Mit automatischen Notbremssystemen wie Volvo City Safety machen wir außerdem einen wichtigen Schritt hin zu vollautonomen Fahrzeugen. Diese sind für uns ein Schlüsselelement, um die Zahl der Unfallopfer im Straßenverkehr weiter zu reduzieren.“
Der Erfolg von Volvo im aktuellen Euro NCAP Test basiert auf dem fortschrittlichen Volvo City Safety System, das in allen neuen Volvo Modellen serienmäßig an Bord ist. City Safety erkennt potenzielle Gefahrenquellen wie andere Fahrzeuge, Wildtiere, Fußgänger und Fahrradfahrer in bestimmten Situationen bei Tag und Nacht.
In den Euro NCAP Tests der Notbremssysteme mit Fußgängererkennung wird die Funktionsweise der Erkennungssysteme in drei Verkehrsszenarien geprüft, die alle zu einer tödlichen Kollision führen, wenn das Notbremssystem nicht einschreitet. Dabei handelt es sich um häufige und kritische Situationen aus dem realen Straßenverkehr:
Volvo verfolgt das Ziel, dass im Jahr 2020 niemand mehr in einem neuen Volvo bei einem Unfall getötet oder schwer verletzt wird.
